-Abby-

Hey Abby!

First things first… here are some videos of things for you to have a listen to. I’ve put some things you’ve probably never heard of before, so keep an open mind 😉 Enjoy!!

So playing wise – keep working on everything we were looking at before the break. I’d like to record you playing some stuff in our little recording studio and add other instruments (will be so cool!), so if you choose 2 songs and have them learned for when lessons start back we can dive right into that.

BASS GUITAR
Check out these tutorials on beginner bass concepts:

This last video is using tabs rather than bass clef notation. I’m not sure if you’ve ever used tabs before, but we can start using them as well as standard notation (can you ask your music teacher in school if for your bass exam the music you need to play will be written in notation, or in tabs?).
Basically (sorry if you already know this) there are 4 lines, each representing a string on the bass. The number on the line tells you which fret on that string you need to press. Timing wise, you need to first see how many beats are in a bar (4/4, 6/8 etc…). Here the song has 4 beats in a bar, and so imagine that each bar is split up into 4 mini sub sections. Depending on where the number is written in the bar should indicate which beat it falls on (1-2-3-4). Also here the guitar chords are written above using the same format. So if there are 4 chords written above the same bar that will clearly show you where the beats fall.

Have some fun with this 🙂

See you in a couple of weeks!
